Cooking Diary - some time in August 2010

Apart from Congee, Mix fruit juices and Congee, I have cooked once for my lovely hubby...my favourite fried rice with a new dish - Stir Fry pumpkin and pork => I created this one by myself~ haha, didnt follow any recipes...

But I think no cooking for while now... as cooking creates steam and oily air, which is not too good for my rashes V.V

Life during my long long sick leave

been a long while since I visited my own cooking blog... haven't been cooking much since - May.

Big changes to my very normal life... the rashes on my face since October 2009 has spread to almost the whole of my right-hand side, chin, a big circle on my left-hand side, and both eye-lids, and neck.

Have been to many doctors, Western and Chinese, specialists, and the only thing I know about these rashes are due to some autoimmune diseases, but it's (thankfully) not SLE.

been taking some autoimmune medicines for 1 week now... honestly, the rashes are no longer peeling, nor swollen, but its still very itchy and dry. The root of my hair seems to be very oily no matter if I wash them or not. as soon as I wash my hair, it is still oily at the root.

during these 2 weeks, I have done 3 blood tests, and I expect more to come.

On the bright side, my doctor (Rheumatologist) has given me 2 weeks sick leave, and during these times, I just stay at home, rest, and hide from the sun.

One and a half week have gone by, and I should be back to week next week - although the rashes are still here.

So what have I been doing apart from sleeping and resting? I finally learned how to cook CONGEE!!!
Yeah, it took me the 3rd time to succeed! Why Congee? Because the rashes spread around my lips, and they ar so dry that I can hardly open my mouth T_T

So each day, I just make myself different types of mix fruit juices, thanks to my parents and hubby who bought me lots of fruits... and thanks to my sister in law who has very kindly given me a blender for free =>

No bad uh! ^^

A fresh beginning - Part 2

Really like these 2 dishes (plus 1 soup)...

(1) Spareribs with Lemon and Honey (柠蜜排骨)

According to hubby, the taste was just right! hehe... it was actually too sweet, I think I will cut down on the honey next time~ but I will definitely be adding this dish to my favourites! Love the fruity taste!

(2) Stir-fried Scallops with Brocolli in Bean Paste (豆酱西兰花炒带子)

Forgot to take a proper photo of my soup~ hehe... the soup was indeed very sweet~

Green Apples and Tianjin Pears Soup with Lean Pork (青平果雪梨瘦肉汤)

A fresh beginning

After the horrible weeks in April... life seems to be back to normal in May... =>

Cooked for 2 days in a row... I was quite satisfied with my achievements these 2 days, asked hubby if I can change job to become a full-time housewife instead, the answer was "no"...

ok... my May report:

1) Pan-fried Port Chops with Tomatoes and Eggs (番茄蛋煎猪扒)

(2)Cellophane Noodles and Stuffed Bean Curd Puff (煎yan三宝)

This was also the first time we boiled rice with our rice cooker - we bought the rice cooker 6 months ago...

Cooking Diary - Rest of February 2010

Sick leave at home... what else to do... been lying around for the whole day... might as well just upload a few photos and update my blog~~

Looking back, I didn't cook much this month - this month passed by soooo quickly... and we are coming to the end of Q1 -2010... scary.

Life seems to be so freaking busy, and pointless... work, sleep, sick, work... sigh...

Nevertheless, am looking forward to March (well, this is already march... and am sick on 1 March hoo-hoo!) Seriously, I have made some commitment, and will be going to Indonesia on 1 April for some missionary trip... and have signed up to do a few apostle courses starting this month onwards... hopefully my life will be more meaningful, and not just on work...

1) Chicken Wings for my dear friends who came to our home for Bai Lin last last Sat~

The taste was "good" according to my dear (very honest) friends. however, the chicken wings were initially supposed to be "蜜糖腐乳香煎雞翼" however, the honey has override the 腐乳 flavour, and tasted more like those BBQ Chicken Wings to me...mmm...

2) The other dishes, are just a lunch I cooked for myself (due to leftovers from the fridge) one Saturday morning before my fellowship, while hubby went back to work =P

豆角辣椒炒雞 and simply my favourite 薑汁芥蘭!

Cooking Diary - 17 Feb 2010

My first (Chinese) New Year resolution - to cook more at home...

First day back to work, although this Friday will be "the Deadline" for my many many brochures, I have set the goal to go home on time, and cook for hubby~~~ it was a success =>

Went to Park'n'Shop to buy the ingredients - man, the spring onions are usually free-of-charge at the markets, but here at PnS, it is $3.80!!!! Anyways, here we go!

First dish: Pan-fried Pork Chop with Tomatoes and Eggs (番茄蛋煎豬排)

Hubby helped me to fry the egg - he has talent too!!!

Second dish: Stir-fried Chicken Fillet with Korean Kimchi (韓式泡菜炒雞柳)

Hubby loves Kimchi, so I thought I should try something new... the chicken fillet was too dry - need to experiment with frying chicken fillet - next time.

Rice: this is a take-away from PnS. only $6.50! Good deal eh~ not too oily - just enough for 2 full bowls - good buy!

Portion was too much today. Decided to bring to work tomorrow, and have it among the mt. everest on my desk tomorrow night. YAY! (not)

Our 2-Month Anniversary

We need to clear our remaining annual leaves from 2009... so... decided to take today off... and just when we were on the bus to have a brunch... we realised, it's our 2-month anniversary~~~ what a nice surprise

so, at 1PM(!!!) we got on the bus to TST, for a big brunch...

This is a restaurant along the harbour side of TST... called BullDog. Been here a few times for brunch.

Today, I tried something new - Blueberries hotcakes. DELICIOUS, and guilt-free! (love the view! Reminds me of the Aussie days)

This is what hubby ordered - the All Day Breakfast

...all @ BullDog =>
At night, it's my cousin's wedding...had a fantastic time with my family and dear bill gor.

And - Cheers~

Cooking Diary - xx Jan 2010

Ok.. enough updates for today... so I will just post whatever I have in my camera here, to finish January 2010 off...

As suggested by my colleague, I should just keep some frozen scallops in the fridge for easy cooking... so... I just went to Park'n'Shop and bought a packet of frozen scallops.. they looked normal in size... but... the outcome.. the cooked version... one need to look carefully to find them... they have shrunk to a size that is not very "see-able" =.=

扇貝炒雞髀菇

乾蔥牛仔肉 : I reckon hubby and I had been eating too much lately.. so... I have cut down the portion... ewww... should have used a smaller plate...

hehe... 薑汁芥蘭 I think I have misread Queenie's direction to put in 2 tsp of rice wine.. instead, I put in 2 tbs, so it tasted a little "drunk"... but other than that, it was ok!!! I had a second try a few days later with only 2 tsp ... it was much better.

Last but not least... this is my favourite dish so far...thanks to AAAA's recipe... lemon chicken wings... this is the best dish so far!!! hoping to cook and share with my colleagues (one day)...=>

Oh... and of cos I have to show you all some of the dessert and soup I have made so far... the Purple Potato Sweet Soup was very ginger and tasted just right... Hubby's mom tasted it too - and was impressed =>

As for soup (can't remember the name for it).. the taste was good, but a bit too oily... maybe too lazy to cut out all the pork fat before chucking everything in...

Cooking Diary - 11 Jan 2010

mmm... I am just loving my cook book: "Cooking Note for Filipino Helper" ... bought it at Jusco for just $30!!!

Decided to cook "酸甜汁菠蘿豬頸肉" but thought 豬頸肉 would be too fatty...so..changed it to just normal 豬肉... so...

酸甜汁菠蘿豬肉

I really liked this one.. cos I just LOVE pineapples... but seriously, this one is very "開胃"...

I actually cooked a total of 3 dishes that night, this 2nd one is called "豆角炒牛肉"

The 3rd dish was supposed to be "薑汁芥蘭"... but... just didn't have enough time after work ... so... it was just "sarp" 芥蘭in Oyster Sauce =P

Cooking Diary - 6 Jan 2010

Thanks to my camera setting...so my second cooking was on the 6 Jan 2010...

My cooking photos are much "clearer" this time... as I have more confidence in my cooking from last time.. hehe...

Fried Rice (without looking a cooking recipe!!)

This was yummmy.. honestly... I only threw in whatever I recall from my mommy back in Sydney..

The trick: I used some "cold" rice from my last cooking... ewww...that was 31 Dec 09 (don't worry we are both still well and alive)

The outcome was "乾身" not oily at all. I like I like...

As for the dishes... I cooked "0急汁牛牛仔骨" and "上湯雜菌炒黃芽白"

And... look at the very clean bones... =)

Cooking Diary - 31 Dec 2009

Never thought it would takes me more than a week to write my first cooking diary... internet problem, and then workload just suddenly .... argh...

OK... back to cooking... hehe... although I have not been cooking for more than a week now... nevertheless, I think since I have set up this blog already, I should just upload some of the dishes I have cooked since Dec 2009 last year~~~

mmm...

My first cooking - Cream Corn Broccoli + Fried Pork Chop with Onion in Soy Sauce (31 Dec 2009)

It tasted surprisingly good... as my dear friend, Dida, reminded me that my cooking was horrible back in Sydney (not that I remember I have ever cooked for her =.=) ... my hubby said the dishes were delicious... (see below)...

NO LEFTOVERS!!! hoohoo~~~

Inspired by AAAAinwonderland

Inspired by my dear AAAA, decided to start a blog of my own to record all the cooking I've done during my new life...

Of course my cooking "photos" will not be as amazing as Alice's, but, hehe... I have found a new hobby, and think I will share with my dear friends, and keep a diary on all the things I have cooked for my Hubby! :)

Hopefully, these will be cooking not only for my hubby, but also my dear families and friends!!!

so...here we go...
